Target Information

Canine cathepsin K (CTSK) is a lysosomal cysteine protease expressed in various tissues, with significant activity in osteoclasts. It is crucial for bone remodeling by degrading collagen and other bone matrix proteins. In dogs, CTSK contributes to the maintenance of skeletal health and the resorption of bone during growth and repair. This enzyme is also implicated in pathological conditions associated with increased bone resorption, such as osteoporosis and certain types of cancer that metastasize to bone.
