Target Information
Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) constitute a broad family of zinc metalloenzymes that facilitate the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. These enzymes play critical roles in a diverse range of biological functions, such as respiration, calcification, acid-base balance, bone resorption, as well as the production of aqueous humor, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastric acid. In dogs, Carbonic anhydrase 9 is encoded by the CA9 gene. This particular enzyme is a transmembrane metalloenzyme that becomes upregulated in tumor cells under hypoxic conditions.
