Target Information
Canine angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is a key enzyme in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which regulates blood pressure and fluid balance. It converts angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II and degrades bradykinin, a vasodilator. In dogs, ACE plays a crucial role in the management of chronic congestive heart failure (CHF) by inhibiting the formation of angiotensin II, thus preventing vasoconstriction and reducing the retention of sodium and water.
