Target Information
Canine Adenovirus consists of two primary pathogenic serotypes: CAV-1, the causative agent of infectious canine hepatitis, and CAV-2, a key contributor to canine infectious respiratory disease (kennel cough). These non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses target vascular endothelial cells, hepatic parenchyma, and respiratory epithelium. Key structural targets for therapeutic neutralizing antibodies and diagnostic assays include the major capsid proteins-specifically the hexon, penton base, and protruding fiber proteins responsible for host cell receptor binding.
