Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus Nonstructural Protein NS3 is a multifunctional protein with serine protease, helicase, and nucleoside triphosphatase (NTPase) activities. In veterinary medicine, NS3 can be used for ELISA detection of BVDV infection. It is also a key component of the BVDV replicase, regulating viral RNA replication. NS3 has strong immunogenicity, inducing high levels of neutralizing antibodies for vaccine development. The cleavage of NS3 in the early stage of infection is crucial for viral replication.
