Bovine tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of catecholamines, including dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. It catalyzes the conversion of L-tyrosine to L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA), which is the first and rate-limiting step in this pathway. TH is expressed in specific cell types in the central and peripheral nervous systems, particularly in the sympathetic ganglia and adrenal medulla. In cattle, TH is crucial for neurotransmitter synthesis and plays a significant role in regulating various physiological functions such as mood, movement, and reward mechanisms.

User Note
