Target Information
Bovine tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 (TFPI2) is a serine protease inhibitor that plays a role in the regulation of blood coagulation and extracellular matrix remodeling in cattle. This protein is known to inhibit the activity of several serine proteases, including tissue plasminogen activator and factor Xa, thus preventing uncontrolled proteolysis and maintaining the balance of protease activities. TFPI2 is also implicated in the suppression of tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and angiogenesis, making it a potential tumor suppressor. It has been found that TFPI2 can be internalized by cells and translocated into the nucleus, where it may modulate gene expression, such as that of MMP-2, thereby affecting cellular behaviors like migration and invasion.
