Target Information
Bovine pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (PTI), also known as aprotinin or Bovine basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (BPTI), is a protein that belongs to the Kunitz family of serine protease inhibitors. It is a small, compactly folded, globular protein of 58 amino-acid residues with a mass of 6512 Da, stabilized by three disulfide bonds. PTI is found in a variety of organs and tissues in mammals, including Bovine, and also in other vertebrates and invertebrates. It has a relatively broad specificity, inhibiting several kinds of digestive enzymes such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, plasmin, and kallikrein.
