Target Information
Bovine Nitric Oxide Synthase 3 (NOS3), also known as endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), is an enzyme that catalyzes the production of nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine. NO is a key vasodilator and signaling molecule that regulates vascular tone, blood flow, and platelet aggregation. In bovine systems, NOS3 plays a crucial role in maintaining cardiovascular health by promoting vascular relaxation and reducing inflammation. It is primarily expressed in endothelial cells and is involved in various physiological processes, including the regulation of blood pressure and the prevention of thrombosis. Additionally, NOS3 has been implicated in reproductive functions, such as oviductal contractility and fertility. Its activity is regulated by various factors, including calcium/calmodulin binding and phosphorylation, which modulate NO production and its downstream effects.
