Target Information
Bovine Neurotrophic Factor BDNF Precursor Form (BDNF) is a critical protein involved in neuronal development and function. BDNF is initially synthesized as a precursor form (pro-BDNF) in the endoplasmic reticulum and is processed into the mature form (m-BDNF) through intracellular and extracellular cleavage. In bovine systems, BDNF plays a key role in promoting neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic plasticity. The mature form of BDNF (m-BDNF) binds to the TrkB receptor with high affinity, promoting neuronal survival and growth. In contrast, pro-BDNF can bind to p75NTR and sortilin, potentially leading to apoptosis. BDNF is also involved in immune regulation and has been studied for its potential therapeutic applications in neurodegenerative diseases. In bovine research, BDNF is used to study neurodevelopment, neuroprotection, and the mechanisms underlying neuronal function.
