Target Information
Bovine Major Histocompatibility Complex, Class II, DR Alpha (HLA-DRA) is a key component of the MHC class II molecule in cattle. This molecule is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha chain (HLA-DRA) and a beta chain, both anchored in the membrane. It is primarily expressed on the surface of antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and monocytes/macrophages. HLA-DRA plays a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular pathogens to CD4+ T cells, thereby initiating adaptive immune responses. In bovine systems, HLA-DRA is crucial for immune responses against various pathogens and is involved in vaccine efficacy and resistance to diseases such as bovine leukemia virus. It is also implicated in the regulation of immune traits relevant to vaccine design.
