Target Information
Bovine interleukin 13 (IL13) is a cytokine that is instrumental in the immune responses of cattle, particularly in promoting Th2 cell-mediated immunity. IL13 is secreted by Th2 cells and has diverse effects on various cell types, including macrophages, B cells, and eosinophils. It plays a role in the development of allergic inflammation and in the susceptibility to parasitic infections. IL13 is also implicated in the regulation of tissue fibrosis through its ability to induce the production of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), which is a key mediator of fibrotic processes. The protein's role in immune modulation and inflammation makes it a significant factor in the context of cattle health, especially in diseases characterized by excessive immune responses or fibrosis.
