Target Information
Bovine Insulin-like Growth Factor-Binding Protein 3 (IGFBP3) is a multifunctional protein that plays a key role in regulating the bioavailability and activity of IGFs in cattle. It serves as the primary transport protein for IGFs, extending their half-life and modulating their biological effects. IGFBP3 can induce apoptosis through both IGF-dependent and IGF-independent mechanisms. In bovine mammary epithelial cells, IGFBP3 expression is induced by ribotoxic stress and plays a crucial role in apoptosis. Additionally, IGFBP3 is involved in cell proliferation, survival, and DNA repair, making it a potential marker for growth, energy metabolism, reproduction, and immunity in cattle.
