Target Information
Bovine Fibrinogen Alpha Chain (FGA) is a key component of fibrinogen, a blood-borne glycoprotein essential for blood clotting and wound healing. It is part of a heterotrimeric complex with FGB and FGG chains, forming the soluble fibrinogen molecule. Upon vascular injury, thrombin cleaves fibrinopeptides A and B from the alpha and beta chains, respectively, leading to the formation of an insoluble fibrin matrix, which is crucial for hemostasis. In bovine systems, FGA is used in research to study blood coagulation, inflammation, and various diseases associated with fibrinogen deficiencies or abnormalities. It is also used in ELISA kits for quantitative measurement of FGA in bovine serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates.
