Target Information
Bovine Fatty Acid Binding Protein 6 (FABP6) is a key protein involved in lipid metabolism, particularly in the transport and regulation of bile acids. It is highly expressed in the distal small intestine, where it plays a crucial role in maintaining bile acid homeostasis by facilitating the reabsorption of bile acids. FABP6 has a high affinity for bile acids and can also bind other ligands, including fatty acids and progesterone. In addition to its role in lipid metabolism, FABP6 has been implicated in reproductive functions. Studies have shown that FABP6 is expressed in granulosa and luteal cells of the ovary and may be involved in ovulation and fertility. In bovine systems, FABP6 is essential for maintaining lipid homeostasis and supporting reproductive health.
