Target Information
Bovine Coronavirus (BCoV) is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the genus Betacoronavirus within the family Coronaviridae. It is a major veterinary pathogen causing three distinct clinical syndromes in cattle: neonatal calf diarrhea, winter dysentery in adult dairy cows, and bovine respiratory disease complex (shipping fever). The virus targets epithelial cells in both the intestinal villi and the upper respiratory tract. Its spike (S) glycoprotein and hemagglutinin-esterase (HE) protein are critical targets for host neutralizing antibodies and diagnostic detection.
