Borrelia burgdorferi flagellin is the main structural protein of the Lyme disease spirochete's (Borrelia burgdorferi) flagella, with a molecular weight of about 41kDa. It is a core component of the flagellar filament and is crucial for bacterial motility, making it a good candidate for serodiagnosis in the early stages of Lyme disease. Flagellin plays a key role in the pathogenicity of the bacteria and the host's immune response, eliciting an antibody response from the host.
