Target Information

Avian Leukosis Virus (ALV) is an enveloped, single-stranded RNA retrovirus that induces neoplastic diseases, primarily lymphoid leukosis, and immunosuppression in poultry. It is classified into subgroups (A to J) based on envelope interference and host range. Key targets for diagnostics and vaccine research include the group-specific capsid antigen p27, used for broad virus detection, and the highly variable gp85 envelope glycoprotein, which determines subgroup specificity, drives host cell receptor binding, and serves as the primary target for neutralizing antibodies.
