Target Information
Avian Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA gammacoronavirus that causes a highly contagious respiratory, urogenital, and reproductive disease in chickens. The virus targets ciliated epithelial cells of the respiratory tract and oviduct. The primary target for vaccine design, serotyping, and diagnostic development is the surface spike (S) glycoprotein, particularly the S1 subunit, which contains the receptor-binding domain and hypervariable regions responsible for driving neutralizing antibody responses and antigenic variation.
