Target Information
African swine fever is a highly contagious and deadly viral disease that affects both domestic and wild pigs of all ages. The African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a complex enveloped DNA virus that expresses two polyprotein precursors, pp220 and pp62. After undergoing proteolytic processing, these precursors produce several major components of the viral particle. Membrane-associated proteins like p35 may function as docking scaffolds, facilitating the recruitment of host membrane components and other elements into the core shell during virus assembly. Additionally, they help stabilize the mature virion.
