Target Information
Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1, encoded by the VCAM1 gene in rabbits, is part of the immunoglobulin superfamily, which includes proteins such as antibodies and T-cell receptors. VCAM1 is expressed predominantly on the surface of endothelial cells stimulated by interleukin 1β or tumor necrosis factor alpha. The function of VCAM1 in rabbits is mainly characterized by its role as an inflammatory mediator and cell adhesion molecule. In rabbit models, blue light-induced downregulation of VCAM1 could impair corneal epithelium and wound healing, while promoting reactive oxygen species (ROS) and apoptosis both in vitro and in vivo.
