Target Information
In rabbits, Interferon Gamma is encoded by the IFNG gene. This Type II interferon is produced by immune cells, including T-cells and NK cells, and is essential for antimicrobial, antiviral, and antitumor responses. It works by activating effector immune cells and enhancing antigen presentation. Interferon Gamma primarily signals through the JAK-STAT pathway after interacting with its receptor, IFNGR1, to influence gene regulation. In rabbits, IFN-γ enhances host resistance to infection by binding to receptors on the surface of macrophages and promoting the production of anti-microbial molecules and pro-inflammatory cytokines by these cells.
