Target Information
Creatine kinase M-type facilitates the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and various phosphogens, such as creatine phosphate. Creatine kinase isoenzymes are crucial for energy transduction in tissues with significant and varying energy demands, including skeletal muscle, heart, brain, and spermatozoa. In rabbits, the CKM gene encodes this enzyme. It is mainly localized in myogenic fibers of rabbit skeletal muscle, especially in the M-band region. This localization allows it to participate directly in the ATP regeneration process within muscle fibers, thus supporting the energy supply required for muscle contraction.
