Target Information
Collagen I is formed by the combination of proalpha1 and proalpha2 chains, produced by the COL1alpha1 and COL1alpha2 genes, respectively. This type of collagen is prevalent throughout the body, primarily contributing to the matrix of connective tissues. Its triple-helical structure arises from its unique amino acid composition. Collagen I has a variety of biological functions in rabbits, including promoting bone and cartilage repair, modulating cellular behavior, participating in inflammatory responses and fibrosis, and influencing gene expression. Collagen I is an important component of bone and cartilage tissue. Studies have shown that collagen I has an important role in a model of articular disc degeneration in rabbits.
