Target Information
Zebrafish Cluster of Differentiation 40 Ligand (CD40L), also known as TNFSF5, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. It is expressed on activated T cells, B cells, and platelets. CD40L binds to CD40, a receptor found on antigen-presenting cells, B cells, and endothelial cells. This interaction plays a critical role in immune responses, including T cell-dependent B cell activation, immunoglobulin class switching, and cytokine production. In zebrafish, CD40L is involved in similar immune functions and is essential for coordinating adaptive immune responses.
