Target Information

Sheep fibroblast growth factor 1, acidic (FGF1) is a 17 kDa cytokine whose twelve β-strands form a trefoil core that binds FGFR and heparan sulfate, driving mitogenic and angiogenic signaling. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 65-78) between β-strands 4 and 5 folds into a β-hairpin unique among sheep FGF family members, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after secretion and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native FGF1 in cardiac myocytes, pulmonary alveoli, and brainstem neurons, delivering crisp extracellular deposition and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to FGF2 or other FGF isoforms.
