Target Information

S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAM) is a 399-Da cofactor whose adenosine-methionine moiety forms a stable hapten; a solvent-exposed 5-aa "KVE" motif (adenosyl-methionine) linked to carrier presents a fixation-stable epitope unique among methyl donors. Antibodies to this conjugate detect SAM in hepatic cytosol, neuronal extracts and cell culture, yielding crisp cytoplasmic puncta and single-band blots without cross-reaction to SAH or methionine.
