Rat YAF2 is a nuclear transcriptional cofactor featuring conserved protein-binding domains that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It exists in nearly all somatic cell populations and integrates into chromatin-bound transcription assemblies to mediate nuclear regulatory events. Its multi-domain intranuclear adaptor architecture and ubiquitous tissue expression separate it from secreted signaling cytokines, transmembrane cell surface receptors and cytoplasmic metabolic enzymes with simplified single-domain assemblies that display limited distribution among differentiated specialized cell subsets.
