Target Information
Rat tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, member 5 (TNFRSF5, CD40) is a 47-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein broadly expressed on rat immune and non-immune cells-including B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages, and vascular endothelial cells. It interacts with its cognate ligand CD40L (CD154) primarily expressed on activated T cells, triggering signaling pathways that drive B cell differentiation into plasma cells, enhance antigen presentation, and promote pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion. Beyond adaptive immunity, it regulates tissue inflammation, vascular remodeling, and host responses to microbial infections. Abundant in rat lymphoid organs (spleen, lymph nodes) and sites of inflammation, it orchestrates critical immune cell crosstalk. As a key hub for immune activation and inflammation, rat TNFRSF5 is a critical target for studying autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, and inflammatory-mediated tissue damage.
