Rat TOP2 is a large nuclear enzymatic protein containing conserved DNA cleavage and ATP-binding domains that maintain stable structural conformation under physiological conditions. It resides predominantly within the nuclear compartment of proliferating somatic cell populations. Its large multi-domain catalytic architecture and cell cycle-dependent expression distinguish it from plasma membrane receptors, soluble secreted signaling molecules and cytoplasmic scaffold adaptors with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
