Target Information
Rat toll like receptor 9 (TLR9) is a transmembrane pattern recognition receptor of the TLR family, a core mediator of innate immune response to microbial DNA. It features an N-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain for CpG DNA binding, a transmembrane segment, and a C-terminal Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain critical for downstream signaling. It localizes to the endosomal membranes of rat immune cells including macrophages, dendritic cells and B cells, with negligible levels in non-immune tissues. The protein mediates NF-κB activation and cytokine secretion, with conserved motifs for adapter protein MyD88 interaction. Rat TLR9 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct ligand specificity differentiating it from TLR3 and TLR7.
