Rat secretory leukocyte peptidase inhibitor (SLPI) is a small, stable secretory protein with a compact folded structure. It is produced by epithelial and immune-related cells, and mainly exists in extracellular fluids and mucosal microenvironments. This protein shows good structural stability and molecular integrity under physiological conditions. Its secretory and extracellular localization clearly distinguishes it from nuclear, cytoplasmic and membrane-anchored intracellular proteins.
