Rat Reelin is a large extracellular glycoprotein secreted by Cajal-Retzius cells that orchestrates neuronal migration during embryonic cortical layering and adult neurogenesis. It binds to apolipoprotein E receptors and VLDLR, activating intracellular cascades that regulate cytoskeletal dynamics and synaptic plasticity. Reelin is expressed in hippocampus, cortex, and cerebellum, where it stabilizes synapses and modulates glutamatergic transmission.
