Target Information
Rat protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type B (PTPRB) is a transmembrane receptor phosphatase of the type III RPTP family. It features two conserved N-terminal extracellular fibronectin type III domains, a single transmembrane segment, and two intracellular catalytic phosphatase domains critical for structural integrity and enzymatic function. It localizes to endothelial cell membranes and vascular tissues, with tissue-specific expression in rat lung, heart and blood vessels, with negligible levels in non-endothelial cells. The protein mediates tyrosine dephosphorylation and vascular signaling cascade regulation, with conserved motifs for substrate binding and catalytic activity. Rat PTPRB shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct endothelial specificity differentiating it from PTPRA and PTPRC.
