Specifications
Target Information
Rat phospholipase A2, group IId (PLA2G2D) is a secreted calcium-dependent phospholipase of the PLA2 superfamily. It features a conserved catalytic domain with a His-Asp dyad, a calcium-binding loop, and disulfide bond-forming cysteine residues critical for structural integrity and enzymatic activity. It localizes to extracellular fluids and cell surfaces, with tissue-specific expression in rat spleen, thymus and inflammatory leukocytes, with minimal levels in non-immune tissues. The protein mediates membrane phospholipid hydrolysis and lipid mediator generation, with conserved motifs for substrate recognition and calcium coordination. Rat PLA2G2D shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct substrate specificity differentiating it from PLA2G2A and PLA2G2F.
