Specifications
Target Information
Rat phosphofructokinase, platelet (PFKP) is a cytoplasmic tetrameric glycolytic enzyme of the phosphofructokinase family, a rate-limiting regulator of glycolysis. It features a conserved N-terminal regulatory domain, a central catalytic domain with ATP-binding motifs, and a C-terminal allosteric modulation region critical for structural integrity and enzymatic activity. It localizes to the cytoplasm of rat platelets, erythrocytes and brain cells, with negligible levels in liver and muscle tissues. The protein mediates fructose-6-phosphate phosphorylation and glycolytic flux control, with conserved motifs for substrate binding and allosteric regulation. Rat PFKP shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from PFKM and PFKL.
