Target Information
Rat peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPARα) is a 52-kDa nuclear receptor central to lipid metabolism. It binds fatty acids and peroxisome proliferators, forming heterodimers with retinoid X receptor to regulate target gene transcription. Ubiquitously expressed in rat tissues-with elevated levels in liver, heart, and skeletal muscle-it drives fatty acid oxidation, ketogenesis, and lipoprotein homeostasis. It also modulates inflammatory responses and energy balance in physiological and pathological contexts. As a key mediator of metabolic and inflammatory signaling networks, rat PPARα is a critical target for studying metabolic disorders, fatty liver disease, and lipid-related pathological mechanisms.
