Target Information

Rat peptidoglycan recognition protein 1 (PGLYRP1) is a 20 kDa secreted pattern-recognition protein whose C-terminal peptidoglycan-binding groove clamps MurNAc-peptides, triggering bacterial agglutination amidase activity. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 125-138) between α3 and β4 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat PGRP paralogs, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after lysozyme treatment and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native PGLYRP1 in neutrophil granules, skin epidermis, and airway fluid, delivering crisp cytoplasmic granules and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to PGLYRP2 or PGLYRP3.
