Rat OCT2 is a nuclear transcription factor with conserved DNA-binding POU domains that maintain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It accumulates inside the nucleus of B lymphocyte cell populations and binds specific gene regulatory sequences. Its multi-domain nuclear regulatory structure and immune cell-specific expression distinguish it from transmembrane surface receptors, soluble secreted signaling cytokines and cytoplasmic scaffold adaptors with simplified single-domain assemblies and widespread expression across non-immune somatic tissues.
