It serves as a key mediator of Toll-like receptor (TLR) and interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R) signaling, recruiting downstream kinases via its TIR and death domains to activate NF-κB and MAPK pathways. This cascade induces pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion, chemokine expression, and antimicrobial molecule production, orchestrating innate immune responses against pathogens. Critical for rat host defense and inflammatory homeostasis, its dysregulation contributes to autoimmune diseases and sepsis.
