Rat Mannose Receptor C Type 1 (MRC1) is a vital endocytic receptor expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells. It recognizes and binds to mannose-rich glycoconjugates on pathogens and apoptotic cells, facilitating their internalization and degradation. MRC1 plays a key role in innate immunity by mediating the clearance of microbial pathogens and cellular debris. It also supports the adaptive immune response by enhancing antigen presentation.
