Target Information

Rat Large Multifunctional Peptidase 7 (LMP7, also named PSMB8 or β5i) is an IFN-γ-inducible catalytic subunit of the immunoproteasome. Expressed chiefly in macrophages and lymphocytes, LMP7 replaces the constitutive β5 subunit to generate peptides with hydrophobic C-termini that fit MHC class I binding motifs. Its activity is therefore essential for efficient MHC-I antigen presentation and consequent CD8⁺ T-cell activation. Antibodies detecting LMP7 enable mapping of immunoproteasome-rich cells in inflammation, infection, or autoimmunity studies .
