Target Information

Rat Kisspeptin Receptor (KISS1R, GPR54) is a G-protein-coupled receptor that binds kisspeptins to activate phospholipase C, elevating intracellular calcium and triggering MAPK signaling. Highly expressed in hypothalamic GnRH neurons, anterior pituitary, and testis, it transduces the kisspeptin signal that governs GnRH secretion, thereby controlling LH and FSH release. KISS1R is indispensable for pubertal initiation and maintenance of reproductive function. As a master regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, KISS1R is a key target for studies of puberty timing, fertility, and reproductive endocrinology.
