Target Information

Rat fibroblast growth factor 15 (FGF15) is a secreted polypeptide of the FGF family, a core regulator of cellular proliferation, differentiation and tissue homeostasis. It features a conserved central FGF homology domain with heparin-binding motifs, an N-terminal signal peptide for secretion, and structural regions critical for receptor interaction. It localizes predominantly to the extracellular matrix of rat intestinal epithelial cells, with negligible expression in non-gastrointestinal tissues. The protein mediates FGFR4-dependent signaling cascade activation, with conserved motifs for stabilizing ligand-receptor complexes. Rat FGF15 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from FGF1 and FGF2.
