Target Information
Rat Erythropoietin (EPO) is a glycosylated protein hormone containing 166 amino acids, with a molecular weight of approximately 36 kDa. It is primarily produced by interstitial cells in the renal cortex, which account for about 90% of its production, while the remaining 10% is synthesized by hepatocytes. EPO regulates red blood cell production by stimulating the proliferation and maturation of erythroid precursors in the bone marrow. Its production is stimulated by tissue hypoxia, which increases EPO levels to promote erythropoiesis.
