Rat cytochrome P450 17A1 (CYP17A1) is a membrane-bound hemoprotein mainly located in the endoplasmic reticulum. It contains a conserved heme-binding domain and a typical cytochrome P450 folding framework. This protein shows tissue-specific expression in steroidogenic tissues and maintains a stable conformation in membrane environments. Its heme-containing structure and ER localization clearly distinguish it from other cytochrome P450 family members.
