Target Information

Rat Cytochrome P450 11B1 (CYP11B1) is a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of corticosterone, an essential glucocorticoid hormone. It catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone and subsequent steps in the steroidogenic pathway within the adrenal cortex. CYP11B1 is critical for maintaining stress responses and regulating metabolism. Its activity is tightly controlled by adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and other regulatory factors. CYP11B1 is an important target for studying adrenal function, hormone production, and related endocrine disorders in rat models.
