Rat chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2, MCP-1) is a 13-kDa secreted chemokine widely expressed in rat tissues-enriched in monocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, and stromal cells. It binds to its cognate receptor CCR2 on immune cells, mediating chemotaxis of monocytes, lymphocytes, and dendritic cells to sites of inflammation, tissue injury, or infection. Beyond recruitment, it modulates immune cell activation, promotes cytokine secretion, and regulates vascular permeability, supporting host defense and tissue repair.
