Target Information
Rat B-cell activation factor receptor (BAFFR) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, a core regulator of B-cell survival, maturation and homeostasis. It features a conserved extracellular cysteine-rich domain for BAFF ligand binding, a single transmembrane segment, and a cytoplasmic tail critical for downstream signal transduction. It localizes predominantly to the plasma membrane of rat B lymphocytes at various developmental stages, with negligible expression in T cells and non-immune tissues. The protein mediates NF-κB pathway activation, with conserved motifs for recruiting adaptor proteins. Rat BAFFR shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct B-cell specificity differentiating it from TACI and BCMA.
