Its extensive energy-dependent lipid transport architecture and tissue-restricted expression distinguish it from soluble secreted cytokines, cytoplasmic signaling adaptors and nuclear transcription factors with simplified single-domain assemblies widely distributed across common somatic cell subgroups.
